What is the best part of your occupation?
Mentoring and role modeling for students, trainees and faculty.
How did you become interested in Obstetrics and Gynecology?
Was so long ago I don’t remember except to say I had a great mentor in Medical School that got me interesting with women’s health and particularly equitable care in obstetrics which continues to be what I strive for in my clinical, academic and leadership.
What would you like to see occur in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology during your career?
Clearly so much has changed over the past 40 years of my career but much needs to be done to improve access to quality women’s health care in the US. Also, training in obstetrics and gynecology particularly surgical training needs evolve to meet the current population needs.
What are your hobbies outside of the office?
Fishing and travel.
What is something surprising that most people do not know about you?
That’s a good question. What you see is what you get.
