2027 Abstract Submission

The 89th Annual Meeting of the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (SAAOG) will take place January 23–25, 2027, at the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa in Amelia Island, Florida.

This is your opportunity to participate in the SAAOG Abstract Program by submitting a formal paper, case report, subject review, original research, or mini-presentation on a topic in Obstetrics and Gynecology. We welcome a broad range of scholarly and educational contributions and encourage you to share your knowledge, research, and clinical experience with colleagues from across the region.

PRESENTER REQUIREMENTS

  • The first author of the abstract must be the individual who will present the work in person at the Annual Meeting.
  • Abstracts are limited to 600 words (excluding title, author names, and affiliations).
  • Accepted presenters must register for the 2027 SAAOG Annual Meeting by October 31, 2026, to ensure their abstract is included.
  • SAAOG staff will contact accepted presenters with registration information and instructions.

The first author of the submitted material should be the individual willing to present the topic at the meeting, in person.

  2. Review the Acceptance and Presentation Process.
  3. Complete the Online Abstract Submission Form.
  4. If your abstract is accepted, register for the 2027 SAAOG Annual Meeting by the registration deadline.

GENERAL ABSTRACT INFORMATION

  • All accepted abstracts will be displayed in the Poster Hall during the 2027 SAAOG Annual Meeting.
  • Selected abstracts may also be chosen for presentation on the scientific program. 
  • Authors selected for discussant presentations will be required to submit a draft manuscript. Additional details will be provided upon acceptance.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

Content Requirements

Abstracts submitted for consideration must be submitted electronically and adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Abstracts are limited to 600 words. (Word count excludes the abstract title, author names, and affiliations.)
  • Abstracts must include the following sections:
    • Title
    • Background/Synopsis
    • Objectives/Purpose
    • Design/Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusion
  • Conclusions should clearly state the importance and potential implications of the findings.
  • Abstracts must be carefully proofread before submission.
  • Use generic drug names only.
  • Abstracts must be written in clear English with proper grammar and spelling suitable for publication.
  • Lead authors must be prepared to disclose all relevant financial relationships if selected for presentation.
  • Any funding support must be disclosed.
  • Encore presentations are eligible; however, the original date and location of the prior presentation must be disclosed during submission.

Abstract Preparation Checklist

You will be asked to provide the following information:

Title: A concise title reflecting the content of your submission.

Background/Synopsis: A brief description of the subject matter and relevant prior work.

Objectives/Purpose: The question your work addresses or the hypothesis being tested.

Methods: The study design, methodology, or techniques used.

Results: Outcomes, observations, and statistical findings, where applicable.

Conclusion: Key conclusions, clinical relevance, and implications of the work.

Proofreading: Carefully review your submission for spelling, grammar, and typographical errors. If special characters are used, be prepared to substitute plain-text alternatives where necessary (e.g., "+/-" instead of "±").

ACCEPTANCE AND PRESENTATION PROCESS

All submissions undergo a blinded review process and are evaluated by SAAOG reviewers based on scientific quality, originality, and overall merit.

Authors will be notified of acceptance decisions by October 1, 2026.

All presenting authors whose abstracts are accepted must register for the 2027 South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Annual Meeting, taking place January 23–25, 2027, at the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa in Amelia Island, Florida.

Please Note: Expenses related to airfare, lodging, social events, and guest fees are the responsibility of the presenter.

JOHN McCAIN FELLOWSHIP AWARD

The John McCain Fellowship Award is presented annually to the best original research paper submitted by a resident or fellow in Obstetrics and Gynecology who is currently in training in one of the following states:

  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia

To be considered, indicate your interest when completing the Online Abstract Submission Form.

Research submitted for consideration:

  • Must not have been previously published.
  • Must not have been previously presented.
  • Must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

The recipient will be selected by the SAAOG Executive Committee in October 2026 and will receive:

  • A $1,000 cash award
  • Reimbursement of reasonable travel and meeting expenses
  • One year of complimentary SAAOG membership

The award recipient will also present the winning paper during the 2027 SAAOG Annual Meeting.

John McCain Fellowship Award Disclaimer

This disclaimer applies only to U.S.-licensed physicians.

Recipients of the John McCain Fellowship Award may receive a monetary award paid directly by the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (SAAOG). SAAOG is currently seeking potential outside support for this award.

In accordance with Physician Payments Sunshine Act reporting requirements, a supporting organization may report acceptance of the monetary award to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as an indirect payment to a U.S. physician.

Acceptance of the monetary award is not required to retain the designation as the John McCain Fellowship Award recipient. Please complete the Online Abstract Form below to submit your abstract for consideration.
