What is your current role?
I am Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Consulting Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology at Duke University.
What is the best part of your occupation?
The best part of my job is teaching and mentoring.
How did you become interested in Obstetrics and Gynecology?
I started my career as a nurse and a nurse-midwife, but quickly recognized the importance of having the education and skills to manage complicated pregnancies and deliveries.
What would you like to see occur in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology during your career?
I would like to see a profound reduction in maternal mortality.
What are your hobbies outside of the office?
I like to walk.
What is something surprising that most people do not know about you?
I am a Civil War history buff.
